MODERN AMP PACK

This Pack is devoted to the ever-evolving nature of bass amplification from the 90s forward. From a vintage-inspired Fender Custom Shop amp to a cutting edge modern metal staple, the Modern Amp pack delivers the best bass amp sounds from the last 30 years. Does it surprise you that 2 of my favorite modern amp sounds aren’t actual amps?! Open your mind, expand your sonic palette and dive into the Modern Amp Pack.

Aggie Backline

There is nothing better than walking into a venue and seeing a familiar rig that you get to rock! On the road, I love to backline an Aguilar rig. The Tonehammer head into their 410 is an absolute delight, and pairs so well with a simple pedalboard front end with a Noble DI. And that’s exactly what you get with this preset - but WITHOUT the hassle of micing the amp! The HX takes care of this for you with a split path combing the mic’d amp with the Noble DI in perfect phase alignment for the best of both worlds!

Without Amp!

Nothing ruled the early late 90s into the 2000s like the Sansamp Bass Driver DI. Sansamp literally means “without amp” and its design was the beginning of the idea that maybe you don’t actually NEED an amp to sound like an amp! The BDDI was at the feet of so many bass players, including myself, and this preset captures my favorite Sansamp settings showcasing what I love about the original pedal. I paired the bright clang and grit with a simple signal chain of gain options that ups the GRRR and left the 3rd footswitch open for your tuner!

Dark Djentleman

Darkglass revolutionized metal bass tone with their super innovative and gnarly B7K pedal creating an instant classic. Continuing where Tech 21 left off with the Sansamp pedals, Darkglass evolved the idea of direct bass with cab emulation and furthered the idea that you don’t need an amp to make amp sounds. Gainy, uniquely aggressive and tight, this preset gives you all you need to smash syncopated rhythms with the double kick pattern while effortlessly cutting through a thick wall of high gain guitars. Footswitches for MOAR DRIVE, Fuzz and an SVT rig bring even more ammo to the fight. HORNS!

93 Fender Vibro King

When I was a teenager in 1993, my dad bought a brand new Fender Custom Shop Vibro King. One day he let me plug my bass into it and what I experienced was nothing short of a revelation - that gorgeous mid-scooped Fender clean tone with bell-like clarity on top and a surprisingly “bassy” bottom! Then I turned up the spring reverb… then the tremolo. HEAVEN. Although not technically meant for bass, this unique 310 design was built on the Bassman platform and is maybe my favorite amp to use to record bass in the studio. And it’s THIS AMP that inspired the effects in my Montana preset in the Signature Pack!
