Synth Pack
Synth Pack
SYNTH PACK:
Synthesizer sounds have sonically inspired me more than anything else. They have always sounded fantastical, revolutionary and unattainable while somehow managing to be simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic. From an early age, I made it my mission to learn how to make and play synth sounds on my electric bass. This pack contains 4 of my go-to modern synth sounds that I use frequently and am constantly finding new ways to use live and on records.
Chewie
GRROWWWRRG” . . . that’s Wookie for “My main synth blueprint in a single preset.” Classic, dirty, and a little old school, this sound is based on my synth formula of octave / fuzz / envelope filter / drive / modulation. The preset defaults to almost everything ON, but peel each layer off one by one to discover what makes my synth sound tick. Use each block individually or with one or two others for endless variations! Are we having fun yet?! Laugh it up, fuzzball.
Leviathan
Swim faster . . . Here it comes. This sound flips the idea of how a bass produces notes on its head by swelling your initial attack and making notes blossom and RISE out of the deep! Based on one of my FAVORITE synth sounds from the Line 6 FM4, this preset gives you the ability to make incredible sidechain synth sounds without having to hook up a bunch of extraneous gear. Drive and wet effects on footswitches give you endless texture and flexibility. (Hot tip: the pitch is set to one octave below what you play, so treat this preset as if you are playing an octave pedal)
SuperSoaker
No one gets out dry! Perfect for long sustained notes, this sound absolutely floods the stage or track with immense sub low end and gritty bright top end synth texture. Based on the amazing Roland GR700 guitar synthesizer, I have used this sound on countless records and it always gets a reaction! Check out the foot switchable ‘Wet’ effects for extra drench and enjoy the octave up on a momentary switch. (Hot tip: the pitch is set to one octave below what you play, so treat this preset as if you are playing an octave pedal)
Decepticon
More than meets the eye. This preset sounds like an alien robot communicating through a thick layer of terra firma. A perfect combo of digital synth and analog growl, this sound is equally at home blasting long notes to experience the full sweep of the vocal filter, or chopping notes short to punch out classic syncopated synth bass lines. Kick on the drive for extra gravel - like Megatron before he’s had his first cup of coffee. Or fire up the ‘Wet’ switch and you’re Starscream leaving chem trails over the pitiful residents of planet earth. “Decepticons ATTACK!”
